TROUBLE-SHOOTING (Commonly
Asked Questions & Answers (v1.0) |
Q: The
backup battery does not seem to be working?
A: - Make
sure that the backup battery is plugged in inside the
keypad. You will need to gently open the casing of the
keypad to do this. The battery is plugged into the white
casing on the upper-right-hand corner of the board.
Then, before testing, ensure the backup battery has had 24
hours to charge.
Q: How
do I setup and mount the door/window sensors?
A: - They
are mounted with the magnet strip on the left side of the
sensor. Please the main sensor component on the
door or window frame, and place the magnetic strip on the
door. We recommend placing door sensors on the same
side as the door handle, and on the very top side of the
door. We recommend placing window sensors by the
locking mechanism unless there is not enough room. Then we
suggest using the bottom or side window frame.
Q: I
keep getting false alarms every 20 minutes or so and the
alarm isn’t even armed. What's going on?
A: - This
is normally caused by a tamper alarm, (or status code 14
alarm.) Check the display on the keypad to see what
Zone Number and Status Code Number you are receiving. If it
is Zone 00 to 25, and status code is 14, please
consult with the manual with STATUS 14, located in section
12.1 of the manual.
Q: I
get false alarms after 20 minutes of arming the alarm, but
it’s not Status Code 14. What’s going on?
A: - This
is normally caused by a door or window that was left open,
(or status code 2 or 7.) Check the display on the
keypad to see what Zone Number and Status Code Number you
are receiving. If it is Zone 1 to 24, and status code
is
2 or 7, please ensure that no doors or windows were left
open after arming the alarm. The alarm performs a
system check on all sensors every 20 minutes. If a door or
window is open, it will trigger the alarm during the system
check.
Q: The
motion detectors aren’t detecting any movement. What should
I do?
A: -
Ensure that the motion detectors were previously programmed
in section 5.0 and 5.1 of the manual. You should have
also programmed the senor type in section 4.0 to 4.7. When
programming the motion detectors as described in
sections 5.0 and 5.1, ensure you are pressing the black
tamper switch inside the detector until the system beeps.
If
the
system beeps and indicates it was programmed, ensure the
motion detectors are sitting upright, not sideways or
upside down. They should be facing straight ahead or angled
slightly down towards the ground. (Not straight down
or
directly at the ceiling.) When the cover is off the motion
detector, the battery is at the top and the tamper switch is
at
the bottom. It should be noted that there are two lenses on
the motion detectors. Both lenses need to be free of
any
obstructions as they are both necessary for proper use.
Placing a motion detector on a desk for testing may
block a lens and cause the motion detector to malfunction.
Q: The
motion detector works for the first 6 minutes, but then
stops detecting motion. What should I do?
A: - The
motion detector is working correctly. For the first 6
minutes after the motion detector's cover is attached, the
motion detector is in a TEST mode. This means it will send
continuous signals about every 10 seconds that it
detects motion. After 6 minutes, the motion detector enters
a use mode. The use mode is designed to prolong your
battery life up to a year. The first time the motion
detector detects motion, it sends a signal to the keypad.
Then it
waits between 15 to 120 seconds before it will reset to send
another signal if it detects motion again. If the motion
detector was not designed this way, the battery life would
be cut in half. However, if you wish to have it to send
signals when it detects motion more frequently, then you can
adjust the sensitivity knob inside of it. (It's the blue
terminal with a gray screw in the middle of it.) Turn this
knob clockwise to make it more sensitive, and
counterclockwise to make it less sensitive.
